Teach your child: How to Write the Letter b | Simple Handwriting Practice for Kids:
Basic Stroke Technique:
For a standard lowercase ‘b’, follow this path:
-
Start at the top: Slide all the way down to the line.
-
Back up: Come halfway up the same line
-
Finish with the tummy: Draw a nice big round tummy and stop at the line
The Pre-cursive Technique (with Lead-in/Out):
If you are practicing for joined-up handwriting, add the entry and exit strokes:
-
Lead-in: Start with a lead-in stroke that curves up to the top
-
Down & Up: Come straight back down, then back halfway up .
-
Tummy & Lead-out: Form the round tummy and finish with a lead-out stroke to connect to the next letter
A Tip for Parents and Teachers:
Children often mistakenly form a ‘b’ by drawing a separate line and a separate circle (or vice versa)
. To build fluency for future cursive writing, encourage them to use the continuous “down, halfway up, and round” motion instead
